Violin Bow - Violin Strings

About Music

A violinist will carry replacement strings along with the violins at all times, and all four need to be carried as each string differs in thickness. The bow used to play the violin needs to be restrung from time to time as hairs will break and come loose. The tuning pegs are covered in "peg dope" to keep them safe, and the violin base itself is carefully treated with violin soap. All of this effort and care can be ruined in a careless moment, whether it is the violin owner or a random pedestrian that causes the damage.

Bags & Cases

There are nice, reinforced bags available for the ultimate in convenient transport blended with protecting your instrument. Ballistic nylon is used for the bag itself, a material that will resist penetration and tearing. Foam padding keeps the instrument from moving around in the bag, and backpack style straps allow you to sling it on and carry it away.

For more traditional protection, as well as more protection in general, a violin case is recommended. They are fairly lightweight with contoured tops and typically come with bow holders. Extra space is provided for strings and violin soap and reinforced latches keep the hard shell case closed while in transport.

However you decide to protect your violin, the investment in a violin case or bag will pay you back many times over by keeping your instrument safe.
