Play The Ukelele
Playing the Ukulele Soprano, concert, and tenor ukuleles are all tuned the same, namely G-C-E-A. Baritone ukuleles are tuned the same as the top four strings on a guitar, D-G-B-E. Because ukuleles have only four strings, they are easier to learn than many other string instruments. However, as the player progresses, the ukulele can be a challenging instrument because it is more limited in the number of notes available. Ukuleles are held in the same manner as guitars and banjos--perpendicular to the body. They can be rested on the legs while sitting to add to the ease of use. Ukuleles are typically strummed. There are many different ways to strum the instrument, but no one strum is considered the best. Rules and guidelines about playing the ukulele are fairly relaxed; the sound is what is considered to be most important. As long as the player is happy with the music created, the ukulele is being used correctly. back | ||
