Recording Studio
Many people outside of the music industry regard recording studio as magical places where hit music is recorded and produced. Perhaps there is some truth to this, especially since many musicians refer to the recording studio as where music happens. But some of the first recording studios were a far cry from modern day recording studios. These recording studios did not have isolation booths because at this time it was necessary to record vocals and music all at once, in a live performance. This was often chaotic and not conducive to a high-quality sound. The advent of multi-track recording brought tremendous advancements in the recording studio. Multi-track recording enables each component of music to be recorded separately and later combined in production. For example, vocals can be recorded on one track while each individual musical instrument can be recorded on their own tracks. The advantage to multi-track recording is that, in post-production, the music and vocals can be layered to produce the highest quality of sound that the combinations can offer. This revolution in recording led to the development of isolations booths and improvements in sound proofing. continued | ||
