Leo Fender Guitars

About Music

Leo Fender continued his innovative designs for the next fifteen years until his declining health forced him to sell the company to the CBS Corporation. Under CBS's direction the company flourished in terms of growth. But by 1981, it had become clear that although CBS's marketing abilities put Fender on the rise, the products improved little because CBS lacked the musical knowledge necessary to create innovative designs. In an effort to get the company back on track for innovation, CBS hired a new management team of music-minded individuals. Finally, Fender was sold and returned to the hands of those who love music and strove to produce quality instruments. The purchase price included the name and patents, but none of the buildings or machines. The new owners were able to run operations as they saw fit and restore Fender to its glory days.

The Fender Product Line

Although the electric guitar is almost synonymous with Fender, it is not the only product that they make. Fender products also include electric basses, acoustic guitars, amplifiers, accessories, and audio equipment such as mixers, monitors and speakers. In addition to their fine line of musical instruments, Fender also offers other items that includes clothing, accessories, books, videos, CDs, miniature replications of guitars and other collectibles. Fender products are available for purchase through their website or through authorized dealers throughout the United States and Canada.
