DJ Equipment
Whether you are a graduate of the Scratch DJ Academy or the school of experience, if you are a DJ, you have got to know your equipment. A DJ uses equipment as a fusion of tools and instruments with one goal; to produce great musical sets. There are a few basic items of DJ equipment that will serve as the backbone to your show, and knowing what your options are concerning mixers, turntables, and CD players will put you ahead of the game. Mixers If you are just starting out as a DJ, you would do well with a smaller mixer than some of the monsters that are available. The reason for this is two-fold: one, you might not be doing this a year or six months from now, and there is no need to invest heavily in equipment until you are as sure as you can be; and two, the smaller mixers can often do just as good a job. Ultimately it isn't the mixer than makes good sets, it is the talent of the person using the mixer. The bet equipment in the world can not make up for lack of talent. There are some great starter mixers on the market, such as MTX. This is a popular DJ choice for around $200 to $500 with solid performance ratings. The Gemini mixers are another good starter that get good reviews from those who use them. As for the Rane, it is very expensive, but justifiably so with a great range of features for those who are sure this is what they want to do. continued | ||
